Lean Process

Lean Goals

3G Graphics Studio utilizes Lean Manufacturing systems and there are four goals:

  • Reduce Overall Costs: To reduce cost, a firm must only produce to the demands of the customer. Overproduction increases inventory costs due to the storage needs.
  • Reduce Time: Minimizing the time it takes to complete an activity from beginning to end is one of the most effective methods to eliminate waste and reduce costs.
  • Quality Improvement: To remain competitive in the current marketplace, a firm must understand its customers’ wants and needs and design processes to meet their requirements and expectations.
  • Eliminate waste: Waste is any activity that consumes time, resources, or space but does not add any value to the product or service. There are seven types of waste:
  1. Waiting (periods of inactivity)
  2. Defects (do not conform to specifications or expectations)
  3. Inventory (excess inventory not directly required for current orders)
  4. Motion (extra steps taken by employees because of inefficient layout)
  5. Overproduction (occurs when production should have stopped)
  6. Transport (unnecessary movement of materials)
  7. Over Processing (rework and reprocessing)
